Jin Long Hiatus

With loads of nonsense going on, blogging seems like a luxury in many dimensions.

And furthermore, the current H1N1 mass spread ain’t making things any better as most of us are now pretty wary of who we mix with or where we visit. That being said, I wonder why no one bothers to really evacuate when another lady sneeze/cough/etc during the Mango/Zara/etc Sale.
Oh well, typical (stupid) Singaporeans.

On a brighter note, Butterfactory’s back up again after a 1 week closure for clean-up as it forms 1 of the key H1N1 cluster. Of cos, RP forms another. But that being said, why RP? Why not any of the other polys? That is something which really leaves much for pondering. *hmmmmmm*

Rare updates

A ironic update, since i hardly update nowadays.

On a side note, I passed by a Soy Joy roadshow booth at bugis, and had the chance to try the raisin & almond flavoured soy bar (if that’s what they called it). Ironically again, it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind about its taste. Like most fruit bars, it’s amazingly dry (nothing wrong with that), but the raisin and almond taste is horribly bad with the soy combination. In fact, i think most energy/fruit bars out in the market would easily taste better I guess.

Then again, this brand’s product’s unique selling point is its low fats content, so perhaps we shld just wait and see… =P

A rare occasional plug - Vote for Nadia!

P.S. I also voted for Eunice cos she seems cute. oops. =P

ignoring, or ignorance?

The loss of blogging mojo has been pervasive since the start of an endless rat race.

Will I be back soon? Probably.
With updates on the recent admission interview exercise and random pointers.

Anyway, I wonder why the need for online voting. In the end, isn’t it as good as a popularity contest?
And the fact that you have people complaining about the vote count of other contestants when your own supporters are cheating, doesn’t make you more ethical in any way.
I hereby rest my case.

Mybrute: MLM or mere mass simple fun with a simple marketing twist?

Recently, a bunch of folks on plurk has started mass ‘bruting’ on this game called MyBrute.

Being bored, i went to check it out and it seems rather interesting.
So do visit http://cowg0esm0o.mybrute.com, start a character (with a charactername that’s not in used), after the initiation fight enter your password to set that character as yours, and voila, fight away. =P

Radio Silence

A good 1, 1.5 mths worth of hiatus. Or not, if you realise what’s been going on.
Plurk’s been a wonderful platform, allowing for misc random ‘plurking’ which often takes you through the day at the speed of light. In fact, plurks get replied sooooo fast at times that computers can’t keep up with it at times.

However, I am still missing the good old “Conceptualise, write, and rewrite before publish” blogging, which allows me to think, rethink and scope my thoughts. Afterall, 140 characters just ain’t enough, don’t cha think so?

And as what Nick said, I’ve been bitching about school (which isn’t surprising). Afterall, I kinda loathe the kind of hectic lifestyle I’m having nowadays. To top it off, 2 teaching assistant-ship + misc random stuff like being a student interviewer for the recent admission exercise (YES you heard it right; I actually gotten to interview applicants, with 50% right to decide if he/she stays). Of course, there’s random funny and hilarious things here and there (which I should probably be blogging about soon after), not too pleasant matters (abit later), and a random bunch of nonsense just for the folks who are trying to get into university this year (so as not to incur my ‘wrath’ again during the interview).

With just 1+ week away from exams, I guess I shall end off with a simplistic yet brutally honest comment of mine…
“Why year after year, uni applicants getting more CMI…”
[of cos, that's not referring to their 5, 6+++ A lvl As or poly GPA of at least 3.7, etc]

moomoo, over and out…
P.S. on a bright note, I felt poly grads are more mature & outspoken compared to JC. If you are not even willing to do ‘research’ on the industry or course you’re applying for, then why bother coming?

Back-tracking…

I’m weary indeed. To the extent of collapse & fatigue at times, with endless thoughts of giving all up.
But of cos, I just can’t, being the egoistic me.

After a total of 6 terms (including this), I feel totally exhausted with motivation level close to nil. Then again, when haven’t I felt exhausted at all? Cycles of achievements and disappointments, highs & lows, expectations & ‘gaps’, it’s all starting to look recurringly vicious and such.

Term after term, I sought to & actually set out to do new things and achieve greater heights. Yet term after term, it has always turned out the same. The academic pitfall as usual. Only that this time, it comes at the expense of health, fitness, & a decent mix of social life (by that, i’m referring to sports & ccas, not alcohol).

And indeed, term after term, I would be aiming for higher academic success. But that sparked off another vicious cycle. The pressure of maintaining your position. Which resulted in pressure to do better, if not the same, to maintain. Afterall, when you’re high up there, the only way you can go next is down…

This endless marathon perhaps should take a pause, while I backtrack & find out what’s wrong. And take a break as well. But for now, I just wish I have sufficient motivation & strength remaining to last me thru this term before I can manage a short break.
Afterall, I haven’t had a single decent break these 3-5 years already.

Random Vdae Comics

I figured that since Vdae only comes once a year, might as well make fun outta it while it last, so here’s some cartoon strips on Vdae:

In the name of romance…

As usual, I’m being drowned in a sea of work, although things are starting to loosen up as matters get resolved one by one.

With a blink of eye (or maybe many blinks *blink blink*), Valentine’s Day 2009’s here again where Unscrupulous and ‘heartless’ merchants bank in on this romance-filled day and attempt to market to consumers their coupley set meals, cute harmless soft toys, and dumb stupid withering flowers with a jack-up of something like 1 to 2 times the usual price. Consumerism and a money-based capitalism at its best, I reckon.
And ahhhhh yes, I’m pretty open about the fact that I dislike flower. No doubt they’re nice and some even smells good, but apart from these those suckers doesn’t last long enough for me to look at them in my schedule of endless work.

So instead of spending money pointlessly on such stupid marketing gimmicks, why not spend them more prudently by cooking a dinner yourself, flying kites and going cycling (i suppose the bicycle shops didn’t jack up the prices), or just simply read a book and ‘nua’ together on the couch?

And lastly, a nice Ms Carmen Lee emailed me about her campaign called Dating Violence Awareness Week (DVAW), which I felt was pretty appropriate. Hence do visit their website at http://www.chooselovenotabuse.com/
So folks, “Choose Love, Not Abuse”.

On a side note, here’s some things that u probably shouldn’t do on Vdae:
